It seems to me that most of my friends nowadays are either married, engaged or definitly on the road towards marriage. Not only that, where a few years ago I was going to quinceneras (Sweet 15 birthday parties) on a regular basis, this past year and this year, most of my major events consist of weddings and birthday parties. When did this happen?
Not that I'm complaining. I love seeing my friends with their significant others, knowing that they have found the one. Nor do I mind finding out that a friend of mine is pregnant/delivered her first baby. I'm thrilled for them. I am just in shock at how quickly I have accepted events that I once viewed as a distant milestone.
Funny case in point. A few months ago, I went to Long's Jewelery because they were having a huge wedding sale. This Long's Jewelery store is pretty big and is located across the street from the Burlington Mall. After shopping at the mall, FH and I drove to Long's. We are pulling into a parking spot, right next to another couple. I look up, ready to offer an understanding smile to the fellow bride-to-be when I realize that the couple parked next to us also happen to be some friends from grad school. They got engaged a couple of months after we did! The fiancee and I looked at each other and burst out laughing, while the boys looked at us strangely (not yet having seen each other). It was only when the boys saw us hugging that they put two-and-two together. We caught up a bit before parting ways inside the store to find our rings (which both couples did). Funny, that an event that would not have caught my eye years ago, now draws not only me but my friends as well....
What about you? Are all your friends getting married or are you the first one?
